Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Emidio Pepe 2018

Pepe Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is produced with pure grapes of the homonymous variety, coming from 30 years old vines standing on clayey and medium texture soil. In the vineyard are scrupulously followed the dictates of organic farming integrating them with some biodynamic practices, although the idea of grapes and healthy soil was already rooted in Emidio's mentality.

In the winery, manual destemming of the grapes and spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in vitrified cement tanks followed by bottling and decanting by hand without filtration. The liquid ages 24 months in cement tanks.

Passion fruit, mango, floral notes, sweet spices, vanilla nuances: all the scents almost seem to come to life in the glass and reach the nose, literally satisfying it.

On tasting, the wine continues to be very expressive, with a predominance of the floral over the other flavours.

It is deep, vivid and structured.

Before bottling, the wine matures for 36 months in new barriques. In the glass it has an intense ruby red colour. The olfactory profile opens with aromas of cherry and ripe red fruit, notes of dried fruit, hints of noble wood and spices. On the palate it has a good structure, with a harmonious sip, fine tannins and a balanced finish, with a long finish on fruity tones. A true legend!
