Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Emidio Pepe 2018

Pepe Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is produced with pure grapes of the homonymous variety, coming from 30 years old vines standing on clayey and medium texture soil. In the vineyard are scrupulously followed the dictates of organic farming integrating them with some biodynamic practices, although the idea of grapes and healthy soil was already rooted in Emidio's mentality. In the winery, manual destemming of the grapes and spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in vitrified cement tanks followed by bottling and decanting by hand without filtration. The liquid ages 24 months in cement tanks.

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Villa Gemma Masciarelli 2004

Masciarelli's Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Villa Gemma is the winery's iconic wine. It is a tribute to the great Abruzzo grape variety and its rich and intense charm. It is a version that can offer enthusiasts a high-level bottle, capable of competing with the great reds of Italy. In the glass, it is dark ruby red in colour, almost impenetrable. On the nose it offers broad, rich and intense aromas, with scents of ripe red fruit, blackberry, plum, berry jam, hints of humus and undergrowth, aromas of herbs, liquorice root, bitter cocoa and dark chocolate. The taste is powerful and structured, with an important tannic texture, well integrated with a dense and rich fruit, enhanced by elegant evolutionary notes. The finish is harmonious and very persistent.

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Colline Teramane Riserva "Zanna" 2015 - Illuminati

The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva Zanna wine of the Illuminati winery originates in the Controguerra area, in the Vibrata Valley. The vineyards are cultivated in the hilly area at an altitude of about 280 metres above sea level.

The climate is sunny, always cool and well ventilated, perfect for bringing the Montepulciano grapes to full maturity. The soil is composed of marl with a high clay content. The vines are trained partly according to the ancient Abruzzi "tendone" method and partly with espaliers.

The grapes are harvested by selecting only the best bunches in the vineyard and fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 30 °C, with a long maceration. The wine matures for a period of 24-26 months in 25 hectolitre Slavonian oak casks.

Masciarelli Marina Cvetic Syrah 2016

The Syrah Colline Pescaresi IGT Marina Cvetic is a great novelty at Masciarelli. Vinified in stainless steel, it is aged for 12 months in French oak barriques, and then spends a further 12 months in the bottle, confirming the validity of the choice of this grape variety that has found an excellent micro-climate in this part of Abruzzo.

Intense ruby red colour with violet reflections.

The nose is powerful, with immediate hints of ripe red and dark fruit, in which plum and sour cherry prevail, considerable spice and notes of sweet wood that are also found on the palate.

On the palate it is full-bodied, soft and velvety, with round tannins and good acidity. In the finish, as well as hints of wood, the spices return.

Good persistence.

Masciarelli Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Iskra Riserva 2016

Masciarelli's Iskra is a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva whose grapes grow around the Aprutine hills in the municipality of Controguerra. We are located in the hills between the Gran Sasso and the Adriatic Sea, at a height of about 250 metres above sea level, and the training method chosen for the Montepulciano vines is the simple guyot.

After pressing the grapes, the must ferments in temperature-controlled steel tanks. This is followed by the ageing phase, in which the wine first rests for 12 months in oak barriques and then, after bottling and before being released for sale, for a further 24 months directly in glass.
