Mormoreto Castello Di Nipozzano 1997

This is the great wine of the Castello, born from the Mormoreto vineyard planted in 1976. The wine was produced  with the 1983 vintage and since then it has been produced in the most favourable years; 1984, 1987, 1989, 1992, 1998 and 2002. The Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot vines, planted 150 years ago, have brilliantly merged with the land, enhancing its unique character. It is an opulent, deep wine of great finesse and longevity. The vintage '97 at Castello di Nipozzano was particularly positive for the quality of the grapes harvested. The year was marked by a spring frost which reduced the yields, raising the quality of wine to very high levels.

This Barolo comes from the Cannubi vineyard of the Einaudi Farm, facing south and south-east, and made  of grey-white marls of Sant'Agata, rich in sand. Vinification takes place in steel wine makers, with fermentation temperature between 30-32°C, then post-fermentation maceration,  racking after 22-25 days and finally  decanting with temperature control. Thirty months of maturation in oak barrels, then a long rest in the bottle to complete the refinement.

The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gli Angeli La Gerla 2007 comes from 25 year old vines located at 300 metres above sea level and trained on the spurred cordon system. Production is limited to very few bunches per vine (50 Qli/ha), the grapes are harvested by hand and the bunches are selected. Vinification takes place with soft pressing of the bunches, temperature control during fermentation (30°C), micro-oxygenation and maceration (15) days, 2 racking per year. In the cellar, spontaneous fermentation takes place for 35 days and the wine is aged in large casks for 36 months.
