Mormoreto Castello Di Nipozzano 1997

This is the great wine of the Castello, born from the Mormoreto vineyard planted in 1976. The wine was produced  with the 1983 vintage and since then it has been produced in the most favourable years; 1984, 1987, 1989, 1992, 1998 and 2002. The Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot vines, planted 150 years ago, have brilliantly merged with the land, enhancing its unique character. It is an opulent, deep wine of great finesse and longevity. The vintage '97 at Castello di Nipozzano was particularly positive for the quality of the grapes harvested. The year was marked by a spring frost which reduced the yields, raising the quality of wine to very high levels.

It rests for two years in French oak barriques and is completed with a period of refinement in the bottle. It is a beautiful intense garnet red colour. Complex on the nose, with hints of ripe cherries, plums and sour cherries, which are enriched by precious tertiary tones, such as liquorice, tobacco and star anise. In the mouth, the tannins are well-chiselled and promise to sustain the wine for many years to come. The length is excellent and the finish is spicy and meaty.

Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gli Angeli La Gerla 2007

The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gli Angeli La Gerla 2007 comes from 25 year old vines located at 300 metres above sea level and trained on the spurred cordon system. Production is limited to very few bunches per vine (50 Qli/ha), the grapes are harvested by hand and the bunches are selected. Vinification takes place with soft pressing of the bunches, temperature control during fermentation (30°C), micro-oxygenation and maceration (15) days, 2 racking per year. It has a beautiful bright garnet red colour. On the nose, tertiary hints of wet earth, mushrooms and graphite are the intense prelude to the sweet succession of currants, jam and dried petals.
