List of products by brand Pio Cesare
Pio Cesare winery boasts, with its glorious and centuries-old history, important records which make it one of the most renowned and important wineries of the Langhe area. It was established in Alba in 1881 by entrepreneur Cesare Pio, a great wine lover and pioneer of values such as quality and stylistic originality. At the beginning of the 20th century his brand was already known throughout Europe, becoming a reference point for Piedmontese wine in the world. A fame and prestige on the national and international market that has continued first under the leadership of Rosy Pio and her husband Giuseppe Boffa and, today, under that of their son Pio Boffa. Currently it exports in more than 50 countries and it is one of the most famous and important Italian wineries, known both by the general public and by wine lovers. Vineyards extend for a total of 70 hectares (750 acres) among the hills of Barolo and Barbaresco and it boasts particularly suited plots, such as Bricco di Treiso and Ornato in Serralunga d'Alba, as well as many important crus. Each of these vineyards is included in the list of Additional Geographical Mentions of Barolo and Barbaresco. The winery, located in the historical center of Alba, has 4 floors below the level of Tanaro river and, besides representing the ideal environment for the production, aging and preservation of wine, it is also an important piece of history. It was in fact excavated and built in the eighteenth century and it is delimited by the ancient Roman walls of Alba Pompeia. In this extremely evocative historical context wines are produced according to the classic and traditional practice of blending the characteristics of vineyards instead of making wine separately from the many crus. This is how it was done in the nineteenth century and this has remained the production method of the family. Fidelity to a classic style, consistency in quality and great care in the vineyard and in the cellar accompany the whole production. Pio Cesare wines are an important historical evidence and an example of quality and prestige that still today sets the standard. They represent the history and tradition of the Langhe, but also their future and their success in Italy and in the world.
