Giacomo Fenocchio's Barolo Bussia Riserva has very long, natural maceration and fermentation using only indigenous yeasts. The result is a noble and demanding wine that is produced without forcing, following the time of the grape and its rules.
The Riserva Bussia is produced at 300 metres above sea level, on soil rich in clayey, calcareous and iron-rich sediments, on vines over 30 years old. This is a Barolo Riserva that spends 3 years in large Slavonian oak barrels.
In the glass it is a beautiful, intense garnet red and offers complex aromas of red fruit and a spicy, intense finish.
It is elegant in nature, rich and velvety. It is a great wine, produced by a great producer.
Absolutely worth trying.
Masciarelli's Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Villa Gemma is the winery's iconic wine. It is a tribute to the great Abruzzo grape variety and its rich and intense charm. It is a version that can offer enthusiasts a high-level bottle, capable of competing with the great reds of Italy. In the glass, it is dark ruby red in colour, almost impenetrable. On the nose it offers broad, rich and intense aromas, with scents of ripe red fruit, blackberry, plum, berry jam, hints of humus and undergrowth, aromas of herbs, liquorice root, bitter cocoa and dark chocolate. The taste is powerful and structured, with an important tannic texture, well integrated with a dense and rich fruit, enhanced by elegant evolutionary notes. The finish is harmonious and very persistent.
Pieropan's Soave Classico Calvarino is obtained from the Calvarino vineyard, located in the heart of the Soave Classico zone, and is the oldest family estate, purchased in the early 1900s.
The name Calvarino derives from "little calvary", due to the difficulty of working the land and the tortuous path necessary to reach it. The most characteristic of Leonildo Pieropan's Soave wines comes from this splendid and complicated territory, with its marked varietal notes and distinctive freshness and minerality.
Farm di Felsina's Fontalloro is a legendary wine. First produced in 1983, Fontalloro represents the highest expression of Castelnuovo Berardenga's Sangiovese.
Left to mature for almost two years in small oak barrels and at least another year in the bottle, Toscana Sangiovese IGT Fontalloro is a wine of rare elegance, long and relaxed, capable of a truly uncommon longevity but at the same time already capable of expressing itself with a unique balance.
Domaine de Montille's 1er Cru Beaune Les Sizies is named after the 18th century owner of the Maison, Renaud de Sessie, a great entrepreneur of the time. Like any other area of Burgundy, the soil plays a fundamental role in defining the wine and here in Beaune the clayey soil gives us a Premier Cru of great pleasantness and balance.
It can also be drunk young, but it has an immense capacity for ageing and can be drunk in 15 to 20 years.
The 2018 Nicolucci Predappio Vigna del Generale Riserva shows a transparent and brilliant ruby red colour. The nose plunges into a bed of voluptuous sensations that recall the undergrowth, through scents of raspberries, blueberries, wild cherries and sloes, among whiffs of ferns, sandalwood bark and cinchona. This is followed by dark tobacco, coffee and chocolate, a memory of black rye bread and hints of graphite and iron. Flexuosity is the key to understanding the taste, caressed by silky tannins and invigorating acidity. There is a long, pseudo-caloric sensation in the finish, reminiscent of red fruit chocolate. Matures 24 months in oak casks and 3 months in the bottle.
Fontodi's Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Sorbo is the result of an accurate blend.
Alongside 90% Sangiovese, the absolute protagonist of the Tuscan terroir, we also find 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, an international grape that has amply demonstrated its ability to achieve excellent levels of quality within the regional borders.
The grapes, cultivated on 40 year-old plants in vineyards facing south-west, are harvested and brought to the winemaking facilities, where they ferment spontaneously thanks to the presence of indigenous yeasts in stainless steel containers, macerating at a controlled temperature for 3 weeks. The wine is then aged for 24 months in 50% new Troncais and Allier barriques. Exceptional!
Chianti Classico Castelli di Ama is produced in vineyards located at an altitude between 390m and 520m a.s.l.
It has a vivid ruby red colour. Bouquet of flowers and ripe red berries with a captivating intensity.
On the palate it is spicy with notes of berries, concentrated, powerful and at the same time endowed with remarkable elegance improved over time.
