List of products by brand La Gerla
La Gerla was born from the passion of its founder, Sergio Rossi, a former successful advertising executive, director of three large European branches of a well-known agency, who fell in love with this harsh and at the same time sweet land and became almost a true "Ilcinese", loving its vineyards as if they were his own children. This gentleman, with his mischievous and lively gaze, has managed to create here in Montalcino a small crù where the most advanced technology is combined with the wisdom of farmers and oenologists to produce excellent products that are born from the Tuscan soil and become great thanks to the work of man, who at La Gerla plays a leading role. The estate, with its characteristic name of Colombaio, was owned by the Biondi Santi family, which even then produced one of the best Brunellos in the area. Sergio Rossi bought it in 1976, completely restored it respecting the original environment and shortly afterwards, in 1978, created and diffused the La Gerla brand. At La Gerla, in spite of the great development and the many changes, importance continues to be given to man and his feelings, listening to what the land whispers every day, respecting its rhythms and satisfying its needs. And perhaps this is also why, in recent years, La Gerla has received high marks in the best wine and food guides and specialised magazines, as well as the appreciation of wine bars and restaurants. Perhaps each one of them, when tasting a glass of Brunello La Gerla or Birba, perceives in the bouquet not only the scent of berries or rosemary but also the heart of those who work there. Sergio Rossi left us in July 2011, but what he taught us all will remain clear in our memories, especially his great attention to quality and detail, which especially in these wines make the difference. His philosophy will continue to be a point of reference to allow us to continue to produce great wines.
